Ever wonder how things seem to be different just by looking at it from a different angle? Life is all about perspective and your perspective is your reality. To take charge of your life, take charge of your own focus!
It is that peculiar charm of a blossoming new year that somehow awakens even the most tired of souls to search within her, renewed faith in the days to come. Cyclic yet beautiful, the fall and rise in the drive of our energy is hardly ever evident sans the start of the year. Together with the banging of the gongs, we declare ourselves ready in our warrior gear to face whatever challenge the new year brings.
Promises fill the new born day as we set the tone by scribbling old resolutions carried over this year. Being more fit or just consuming lesser soda, traveling to destinations or reaching those by books, getting more in-touch with the family or loving yourself more, the light for the succeeding months has started to sound optimistic.
At the return from that quick yet satisfying hiatus, a colleague of mine, who we shall hide in the name of Jesse, insisted that we be greeted with a Happy New You instead of a Happy New Year. A calendar may just flip without a change but it signifies changes in our outlook at the break of the year, he reasons.
True to its essence, Happy New You does bring in fresh belief and a good battery of purpose. This led me to realize that though his novel idea was indeed the norm, we need not wait for the turn of the year to take charge of our life's changes.
Take my fate, as your living testament. I took a hard plummet at the start of the third quarter of last year. Though it was close to the curtail of 2016, the fall was so deep, only a change in outlook was the way out of the pit. Carrying with me my brand new perspective, I was already on my way to climb in no time. Waiting for the turn of the year would have meant sitting at the bottom for months until I pick up on the scent of fireworks and sparkles to bring myself up.
Make the most of the flush of good energy with the flipping of the calendar page but never underestimate the power of your will in making a new and revitalized you, anytime of the year.
