What drives you to pursue that dream? Is it for self-gratification? Or is it because of an other-centered, beyond-the-self purpose?
Do you know that people with greater grit have purpose that's focused outside of themselves.
Yes, even the athletes, whose gold ribbons go around no one else's neck but theirs, find it essential that what they are doing and performing is important to other people as it is to them. It somehow, is not just centered on the individual but equally important for other people as well.
Whether besting the time for a lap, or laying down the foundations of a future firm, evidences have shown that having an external driving force is a common factor of grittier people. Whether that motivation is a result of shifting the hedonistic purpose to the outside of the self or by just fostering that passion from an organic external force, it has yet to be fully understood. Nevertheless, studies have shown that where you are drawing your purpose from significantly affects how you foster your passion.
Are you having a problem in pursuing that dream plan? Maybe you just need to realign and find that focus from within and the motivation and purpose in impacting your external environment.
